David Kelsey Ferris
December 15th, 1940 - November 12th, 2024
David Kelsey Ferris was born on December 15, 1940 in San Francisco, and raised in San Anselmo by his parents Phil and Olga Ferris. David attended grammar school at Saint Anselm’s and then went on to graduate from Marin Catholic High School. After High School, David attended College of Marin in Marin County and then San Francisco State College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. David married Melinda Maree Ferris in 1963 before moving to Chico. David and Melinda had two children, Timothy Ferris (1964) and Darcy Ferris (now McNaboe, 1966), before divorcing in the early 80’s.
David subsequently married Diane Inman and had a child, Benjamin Ferris (1989) before divorcing in 2011. David’s third wife was Diane Ayers of Chico, California until her death in March of 2024.
David’s first employment after college was as an accountant with Matson Shipping located in Oakland, California. After moving to Chico, David was employed as a pharmaceutical representative with a territory spanning north of Sacramento to southern Oregon with employers including Ayerst Laboratories, Dow Chemical and Boehringer Ingelheim, before retirement.
David loved hunting and fishing with his family and many friends, both personal and professional. Known for his sense of humor he was a mentor to many in the pharmaceutical business.
David passed on November 12, 2024 at the Compass Rose memory care facility in Chico from complications related to diabetes and dementia issues.
David was one of five children born to Phil and Olga Ferris, Robert (deceased), Richard (deceased), Alan (deceased), Lynn (deceased) and Phil Ferris (living in Marin County) David is survived by his three children, Timothy Ferris (Mary) of Chico and Darcy McNaboe (Jim) of Grand Terrace, Benjamin Ferris of Denver, North Carolina, grandchildren, Margaret “Daisy” Ferris and Owen Ferris, both living in Chico, his brother Phil Ferris (Carol) of San Anselmo, as well as many
nieces and nephews throughout California and the rest of the United States
