Donald J McIlvenna, age 77, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 29, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer with his loving wife Cindi by his side.

Don was born on December 11, 1946, in Auburn, NY to Elmer and Barbara (Bishop) McIlvenna. He attended Moravia High School. He enlisted in the US Navy in October 1964 and honorably served the country he loved.

On November 13, 1976, he married the love of his life Cindi and together they had a son Joseph (Joey) who was his pride and joy. Don loved the open road and spent 40 years driving tractor trailer for Anchor Motor Freight, Walmart and Metals Transportation.

Don was a Master Mason, Bethany Lodge 821 in Black River, NY; Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Syracuse, Syracuse, NY and a Shriner, Media Shriners, Watertown, NY. In 1993 Don had the honor of serving as the Potentate of Media Shriners. He was an associate member of Egypt Shriners in Tampa, Florida and devoted many volunteer hours to the Shrine Hospital, building and repairing wheelchairs for Shrine patients.

After spending most of his life in the North Country of New York State Don and his family relocated to Orlando, Florida and for the past 22 years lived in Land O Lakes, Florida.

In addition to his wife Cindi, Don is survived by his son Joe (Abbie) grandchildren Joseph (Joey) and Alexis (Lexie) McIlvenna, sister Lorraine Rodriguez and nieces & nephews. He is also survived by sister in laws, Pamela (Ken) Barton and Deborah (John) Donohue. Although only related by marriage, Don loved Pam and Debbie as though they were his sisters.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers James and Richard McIlvenna, sisters Carol Riggall and Beverly Walrad.

A private interment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell will be held at a later date.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.

And let the perpetual light shine upon him.

And may the souls of all the faithful departed,                                                               through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
