Raymond De Vern Peterson, age 84, from Molalla, OR. Raymond passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday November 27, 2024. Raymond De Vern Peterson was born on August 1, 1940 in Gonvick, MN to Casper John Peterson and Hilma Ovedia Peterson (Anderson). He graduated from Gonvick High School in 1958. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Ray had a long career as a mobile Office Machine Repair Technician. He eventually moved from Gonvick, MN to Norwalk, CA. He and first wife Sharon L Peterson loved and raised their children and many foster children until her passing in 1984. He eventually found love again and was married to Elizabeth “Liz” S. Peterson (Strahl) in 1988. Eventually, Ray and Liz retired, and they moved to Molalla, Oregon.
Ray’s life experiences were very interesting. He was actively involved in the Boy Scouts Of America and worked with his son’s to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a TRP Transportation Reaching People volunteer driver for the Senior Community Center taking people to their appointments. Ray’s hobbies included: Woodworking to craft many custom woods pieces. Numismatics. Computers. Building countless 3-Dimensional miniature doll house models. Jigsaw puzzles. The ever-expanding collection of annual miniature Christmas Village display. Playing Bingo. Watching John Wayne movies and spaghetti westerns. Travelling with Liz on several Cruises to various destinations.
He is survived by: his beloved wife Elizabeth S. Peterson, Carol Bergh, (Older sister). Ray and Liz’s children: Monte Peterson, John Davis, Rachel Tate, Gregory Strahl, Terry Strahl, Mary Merritt, Carla Taylor and Todd Strahl. He is further survived by many Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
He is preceded in death by: Casper John Peterson (Father), Hilma (Anderson) Peterson (Mother), Elaine Haugen (Sister), Sharon L. Peterson (First Wife), Dallas Peterson (Son.)
Ray has requested that there not be a formal Memorial Service. He has elected to be cremated. We will have a “Celebration Of Life” event sometime after the new year. We will provide ample notice of the event details once they are known.
