Margaret E. Gillenwater, 70 of Kingsport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. Margaret was born on May 15, 1954, in Rye Cove, VA to Daniel and Nannie Bishop. On June 3, 1973, Margaret married her most cherished friend, Corbett Gillenwater, and after 51 years of a beautiful life together, he survives.
Margaret’s greatest love and joy was her family, whom she cherished deeply. She was a loving mother and devoted wife. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren; they were the air she breathed. Margaret will leave behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. Her husband and children will cherish every memory and adventure they had with her. She always had a special gift of making everyone feel a part of her family. Margaret’s last wish was for everyone to be ready to meet her in heaven with her Lord and Savior.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Luther Bishop and Nannie Emily bishop; her brother, Bobby Bishop; sister; Patsy Propest; and her baby daughter, Christy Gillenwater. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Corbett Gillenwater; son, Corey Gillenwater and wife, Misty; two daughters, Jessica Parker partner, Sam Morelock, and Sarah Collette and husband, David; grandchildren, Destiny and Bailey Gillenwater, Emily, Erin and Evan Parker, and Noah Collette; great grandchildren, Harper and Jaxon Byrns; Brothers, Charles Bishop and wife, Barbara, and Danny Bishop wife, Barbara; several nieces and nephews; and her precious dog, Rilee.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm with Evangelist Mark Sexton officiating. Special music will be provided by Sisters in Christ. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Holston View Cemetery with Landon Larkins, Caylob Byrns, Evan Parker, Bryson Sexton, Daniel Rhymer, Adam Williams and Jacob Ray serving as pallbearers.
