Marshall Dwight Richards

Marshall Dwight Richards, age 77, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born on October 6, 1947, to the late Mary and Clate Richards.
Born in Danville, KY, Marshall grew up on a farm in Dunnville and attended Liberty High School. At age 14, he began his college career at Centre College and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with degrees in Science and Mathematics. He married Brenda Overstreet and they began a life together in Lexington, KY. Spending most of his career in the tobacco industry, he worked for Brown and Williamson and later with Casalee Group out of North Carolina. This part of his career took him around the world, offering experiences he treasured. At the end of his career, he joined forces with his brother, Garry Richards in the grocery store industry. He was a sports enthusiast, serving as a coach and supporter to his children, grandchildren and countless others. He never met a stranger on a baseball field.
Marshall is survived by his wife of 57 years, Brenda Overstreet; son Brent Richards (Suzie) of Lexington and daughter Heather Higgins (Ed) of Nashville; six grandchildren Clayton Richards, Madeleine Richards, MacKenzie Higgins, Joshua Richards, Riley Kate Higgins and Hudson Higgins; brother Garry Richards (Linda) of Campbellsville; and a host of dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, December 17th from 5:00-7:00pm at the Clark Legacy Center in Nicholasville, KY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Green River Valley Separate Baptist Church, c/o Nanette Wright, 6282 S US 27, Liberty, KY 42539 or First Steps, Inc., 1900 Graybar Lane, Nashville, TN 37215.
