Bruce D. Walsh, Sr.
September 21st, 1938 - October 26th, 2024
Bruce Walsh, of Lafayette Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024. He was 86 years old.
Bruce was born in Detroit Michigan on September 21, 1938. He spent his childhood in New York, attending school in Albany. Throughout his childhood years, Bruce took an interest in sports; playing basketball, football, and baseball.
He graduated high school in 1956 and attended Union College on a basketball scholarship and was in ROTC. Throughout college, Bruce discovered a passion for computers, learning how to build and program them. He graduated in 1960 with a degree in electrical engineering.
Out of college, Bruce went to Penn State University on assignment with the Air Force to become a meteorologist. In 1961 Bruce and Margo married, moved to McCord Air Force Base in Tacoma Washington, and began their family. Together they had 3 sons. After the military, Bruce co-founded a successful technology company called McData.
Bruce continued to remain active, playing tennis and golf and he and Margo enjoyed season tickets to the Rockies for 25 years. Both of them were also avid readers and attended many author readings and book signings at area bookstores. One of their last adventures together was a trip to Hawaii with the whole family in July of this year.
Bruce was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Elizabeth Walsh, his father, Maurice Walsh, and his younger sister, Patty Pelosi.
He is survived by his wife Margo, their 3 sons, Bruce Jr. (Linette), Brian (Michele), Bradley (Lisa), four grandchildren (Katy, Maria, Kyler, Keenan), two brothers-in-law, Paul Pelosi and Bob Peckowitz, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bruce will be remembered fondly by his friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church (1303 S. Bross Lane Longmont, CO 80501) at 2pm Thursday December 19, 2024.
