“How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” AA Milne

Lynne DeRemigio, 81, passed away peacefully on December 4th surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her loving husband Thomas, her parents Harry Applegate and Catherine Cheeseman (née Sanderson) as well as her sister Joyce Connelly (née Applegate).

Born and raised in the National Park area, she attended Verga Elementary School and graduated from Paulsboro High school before marrying and becoming a resident of Gibbstown. She spent most of her life living in the beautiful home that she and her husband built together. Lynne had a short career as a reporter for the Gloucester County Times, covering county and municipal meetings, school boards and special interest groups. A series of investigative articles led her down the path of environmental law and inspired her to further her education. She earned degrees from both Gloucester County and Glassboro State Colleges (now Rowan University) as well as her Paralegal Certificate, focusing her studies on law and justice. She had a long, successful career as a paralegal and shared her knowledge and expertise with others in her field. She was a charter member of the South Jersey Paralegal Association and served as President from 2004 - 2006.

She was married for 60 years to the love of her life, Tommy and was mother to their three children, Dr. David DeRemigio (George Hausser), Lauren Ballas (Dennis), and Sandra Pitts (Jerry). She was proud of her four grandchildren, Nicholas Pitts (Kaitlyn Turi), Emily Pitts (Scott Ritter), Terra Ballas, and Joseph Ballas. She was delighted in recent years by the arrival of great children Delaney Pitts, Quentin Pitts and Colton Ritter.

Lynne was well traveled, planning and navigating a several months long family road trip across the United States in 1976 in celebration of the US Bicentennial. On that trip the family visited and camped in many National Parks instilling a love of the outdoors and night sky in her children and in turn, grandchildren. She traveled extensively throughout Europe as well as visiting Australia, Alaska and Hawaii. Of all the places she traveled, Hawaii was her favorite destination.

When not immersed in projects which included organizing the annual Paulsboro high school class reunion, as well as serving as editor for the New Jersey State Bar Association publication The Essential Role of the Paralegal, she could be found shopping for, planting, maintaining and enjoying her beautiful garden and fish pond which was featured in a recent garden tour. She enjoyed the landscape and history of South Jersey and loved long drives down open roads taking note of the flora and fauna along the way.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Moe me ka 'olu 'olu. A hui hou.

(Pleasant dreams until we meet again)
