Gary Wayne Vanderslice, born October 20, 1946, in Mooreland, OK, passed away on November 23rd. He was the cherished son of Gene and Sylvia Vanderslice, who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Vanderslice, a twin sister, Gail Vanderslice, and his stepson, Shane Baird.

Gary’s life journey began in Oklahoma, where he attended public schools in Woodward before moving to Cheyenne, WY, for his senior year. He graduated from Cheyenne Central High School in 1965 and went on to pursue higher education at Casper College and the University of Wyoming in Laramie.

Gary married the love of his life, Caroline Metzler, and together they built a life filled with love and dedication in Casper, WY. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family deeply. Gary’s career as a Produce Manager at Albertsons spanned over 40 years, where his hard work and commitment earned him great success and respect from colleagues and customers alike.

After retirement, Gary and Caroline relocated to Loveland, CO, where he enjoyed his hobbies and faith community as well as spoiling his grandchildren.  A true car enthusiast, Gary loved restoring and tinkering with vehicles, especially his 1964 Ford Falcon and a treasured 1983 Dodge d50 pickup that once belonged to his father.  He enjoyed sharing them with others at car shows in Northern Colorado.

Gary was a man of deep faith, finding joy and purpose in his relationship with Jesus. He was a faithful member of Foundations Church and an active participant at Golden Rock until his health no longer allowed.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Caroline Vanderslice; his sons, Troy (Ann) Vanderslice of Casper, WY, and Kurt (Laura) Vanderslice of St. George, UT; and his stepdaughters, Shelie (Perry) Elliott of Casper, WY, and Stacey (Bob) Mitchell of Loveland, CO. He also leaves behind his brothers, Ronnie Vanderslice (Norma) of Fargo, OK, and Roger Vanderslice (Suzan) of Pueblo West, CO; his sister, Patsy Scovil (Gene) of Buffalo, OK; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored him.

Gary’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his devotion to family, and his steadfast love of Jesus.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Foundations Church in Loveland, CO, officiated by Pastor Carl Sutter. His family invites all who knew and loved Gary to join in honoring his remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gary’s memory to Foundations Church.

May the winds of heaven blow softly & whisper in your ear.

How much we love & miss you & wish you were here.
