Susan Joyce Reeder Riddle

Susan Joyce Reeder Riddle, 72, of Bluffton, SC, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on December 4, 2024. Born in Greenwood, SC, Susan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many through her warmth and compassion.
Life and Legacy
Susan was married to her beloved husband, Rodger "Dell" Riddle, Sr., for 54 years before his passing. Prior to his death, they resided together in Moncks Corner, SC. Her greatest joy in life was her family, including her four children: Cheryl Riddle Perry (Phillip) of Waterloo, SC; Rebecca Riddle Baird (Eldon) of Bluffton, SC; Rodger Dell Riddle, Jr. (Deanna) of Moncks Corner, SC; and Jessica Lynn Riddle Benjamin (Chris) of Moncks Corner, SC.
Susan's love extended to her grandchildren: Steven Bowie, Brandon Bowie, Amber Nichols, Christian Bowers, Hailey Bowers, Benjamin Baird, Christopher Baird, Joseph Baird, Emily Bowers, Ansley Riddle, Walker Riddle, Ashlynn Riddle, Christopher Benjamin, Hudson Benjamin, Blake Benjamin. She was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
She is survived by her siblings: Connie Burger of Aiken, SC; Billy Ray Reeder of Cross Hill, SC; and Mike Reeder of Laurens, SC. Susan also leaves behind her precious companion, Sully, her 5-year-old Shih Tzu dog.
Professional Life and Interests
A dedicated healthcare professional, Susan retired from her role as a respiratory therapist at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She also worked as a Sleep Lab Technician at MUSC, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to patient care. Susan had a special love for children, which was evident in both her personal life and professional endeavors.
Susan attended New Life Church of Bluffton, SC, where she found spiritual fulfillment and community. In her leisure time, she enjoyed crocheting, playing Bunco, and indulging in her love for shopping. Susan had a special affinity for the beach and cherished moments spent with her family and friends.
Family and Remembrance
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Ray Reeder, Sr. and Jean Reeder Wilkes, and her daughter, Sandra Michelle Riddle. Her memory will be treasured by her many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Susan's life will be held at Red Dam Baptist Church in Hardeeville, SC, on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 3 P.M. The family will receive friends immediately before the service. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring the memory of this remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her kindness and love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berkeley High School Athletic Booster Club, Moncks Corner, SC, or New Life Christian Church, Bluffton, SC.
Susan Joyce Reeder Riddle will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, compassion, and family devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
