Richard Peter Hoppe, 79, of Stanton, California, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024. Born on January 7, 1945, in Wisconsin, Richard led a life marked by service, curiosity, and a deep passion for aviation.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Richard served in counterintelligence and cryptology, dedicating himself to protecting his country. His military service laid the foundation for a lifelong fascination with airplanes, which shaped his career and personal pursuits.
Following his time in the Air Force, Richard embarked on a successful career in IT at Boeing, combining his technical acumen with his love for aviation. After retiring, he discovered joy in flying remote-controlled airplanes, a hobby that allowed him to stay connected to the skies he admired so much.
Richard’s family was his greatest pride. He is survived by his daughter, Danica Hoppe of IL, her mother, Patricia Barnard-Stoller of PA; his stepson, Richard Kreider (Tiffany Petricini) of PA; and his five beloved step-grandchildren, Kennedy Kreider of OH, Tommy Petricini of PA, Maci Kreider of PA, Kali Kreider of PA, and Morgan Powell of OH.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Hoppe; his father, Robert Hoppe; his stepson, Justin Barnard; and many close friends.
Richard will be remembered for his sharp mind, his steadfast commitment to service, and his love for his family and aviation. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A private service will be held to honor his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Orange County, California.
