Adele Chase Rudy
September 18th, 1928 - December 4th, 2024
Adele was the only child of Allen and Ivadell Chase. She was born in San Francisco and lived there until she was 12 years old. Her family moved to San Jose where she lived through her first two years of college at San Jose State. She transferred to UC Berkeley where she earned her Bachelors in Artistic Design.
While working at The Emporium in San Francisco following graduation from college, she met Richard (Dick) Rudy who was also employed there. They fell in love and were married three months later in Pacific Grove, CA. They were married for 73 years.
Together they had three children; Kathleen (Kate), Robert, and Sandy, who they raised in Fresno where they lived for 25 years. While raising her family Adele volunteered with and served on boards for Infant of Prague Adoption, Candlelight Guild, and La Feliz Guild which supports Valley Children's Healthcare. In the late 1970s Dick and Adele moved to Pebble Beach on the Monterey Peninsula. Adele was home! It was her favorite place of all. In the years that they lived there she enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, singing in the church choir, and walking the dog on the beach. But most of all Adele's passion was traveling. She and Dick were able to travel to many places together throughout their marriage. Not only Mexico and Canada, but throughout Europe, to Hong Kong, Indonesia, sailing on the Adriatic to Greece and Dubrovnik, river cruises, St. Petersburg, Jamaica and the Marshall Islands.
In the year 2000 Adele was honored to become a Dame in the Order of Malta and participated in pilgrimages to Lourdes, taking the infirm to the Grotto. Before retirement she worked in a couple of art galleries in Carmel as a gallerist. She enjoyed this and had an affinity for fine art, and art history in general. She also served as a Docent at the Monterey Museum of Art. In 2003 Dick and Adele moved to Washington state to be close to their children and grandchildren who had moved there. She continued to play golf, sing in the church choir and even took piano lessons again in her early 80's.
Sadly, Adele's youngest child Sandy preceded her in death in 2018. Hubby "Rich" as she always called him, passed away just three months before Adele. She didn't know how to go on without him, the love of her life. She is survived by her children Kate Galaktianoff (Pete) and Robert Rudy, grandchildren Erin Fossen (Phil), Matt Garner (Jamie), Rebecca Stratton, David Stratton, Nicholas Stratton (DeAnne), Andrew Stratton and Robert Stratton, her niece and nephews and 12 great grandchildren. Donations may be made to Assured Hospice Olympia or Garden Courte Memory Care of Olympia.
