Diana Lynn (Anderson) Schreck, 74, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday December 4, 2024, while at her home surrounded by her family.

Born October 7, 1950, in Moscow, Idaho to Raymond Anderson and Ruthe Harshman, Diana graduated from West Valley High school in Spokane, Washington. There she met the love of her life, Charlie Schreck. They were married March 1, 1969, at Millwood Presbyterian in Spokane Washington. Diana and Charlie lovingly welcomed 2 children, Marcie and Mark. Time spent at home, raising her children, was one of the greatest joys in her life.

In 1983 Diana and her family moved to Olympia Washington where her husband was relocated. While embracing their new home in Olympia Diana became involved in numerous activities.

In 1986 Diana was hired as an American Airlines flight attendant. She loved her job. She was able to travel widely and made many lifetime friends. She loved exploring the cultures, sampling cuisine, and meeting people from all over the world. After 26 years Diana retired from the airlines to be able to spend more time with family and doing the things she loved. In retirement Charlie and Diana built a cozy cabin in Mazama Washington, the perfect place for the activities she loved and to spend time with family and her many friends.

She possessed the rare ability to accomplish whatever she set her mind to, and her interests were vast as she was an exceptional homemaker, gifted in sewing, knitting, baking, decorating, and gardening. Every interest was accomplished with precise attention to detail, impeccable style and utmost grace. She also loved hiking, climbing, running, biking, cross country and downhill skiing. She was a member of The Mountaineers which resulted in numerous climbs of Mt. Rainier, completing several marathons, biking the Courage Classic and countless hiking excursions with family and friends. She was a wonder to all who had the opportunity to watch her work miracles.

Diana was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother, and a proud grandmother to Ben, Emma, Sarina, Carl, Charlie and Elsa. Her bright, beautiful smile and ability to have meaningful conversations with anyone that crossed her path will live on in her children and grandchildren.

Diana is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Charlie Schreck of Olympia WA; daughter Marcie Sunitsch (Kirk) of Leavenworth WA; son Mark Schreck (Jennifer) of Olympia, WA; six grandchildren; mother Ruthe Harshman of Tucson Arizona; stepmother Jean Anderson of Spokane, WA; brother Tom Anderson (Bonnie) of Tucson Arizona. She is preceded in death by her father Raymond Anderson.

A memorial service to celebrate Diana’s life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Olympia, Wa.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hutton Settlement Children’s Home in Spokane WA.
