Michael Fitzgerald Anderson passed away suddenly on December 7, 2024. Born on February 10, 1969, Michael’s life was a rich tapestry filled with both triumphs and challenges that he faced with courage and grace.

Michael, affectionately known as "Mike" to friends, had an unwavering love for the great outdoors, particularly when it came to fishing. Many days were spent by the water, with a fishing rod in hand and a hopeful sparkle in his eye. His patience and skill were admired by many, and the stories of his biggest catches will be fondly recounted for generations.

During his high school years, Michael was a star running back, known for his agility and determination on the field. His favorite number was 34, inspired by his idol Walter Payton, and he wore it proudly throughout his playing days, leaving a lasting legacy among teammates and coaches alike.

Michael leaves behind a wide circle who will forever remember his generosity, humor, and resilience throughout life's journey.  He is survived by his mother, Nora Anderson, stepfather, Amadou Thiam, daughter, Steffani Thomas, sisters Casey Tipton, Awa Thiam, and Evelyn Lacy; brothers a Bill Tipton and Nick Anderson,  nephews and nieces: Derrick Anderson, Ernest Lacy, Alex Anderson, Marcus Lopez, Kenney Logans, LaShanique Lacy, Peyton Tipton, Summer Barnes.  He was best friend and caregiver to Obbia Fortune and is preceded in death by his father, Willie Anderson and his sister, Juanita Anderson.

Michael will be interned at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Reidsville, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Delancey Street Foundation in San Francisco, supporting causes close to Michael’s heart.

May Michael’s soul rest in peace, as his spirit continues to inspire those who knew and loved him.
