Yoriko Shiozawa Warner Lamarsh was born July 27th, 1931 in Formosa (now known as Taiwan). After WWII, her family was forced to return to mainland Japan where they settled in Sendai with relatives.

In her early twenties, Yoriko worked for the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) on an Army base as a Japanese-English interpreter. It was here that she met a handsome, young American MP named Jennings Warner from Jump River, WI. Yoriko and Jennings married on December 3rd, 1953 in Sendai, Japan. A few months later, the young couple relocated back to the United States where Jennings completed his military career in Baltimore, Maryland. Eventually, they made their way back to Jennings’ home state, Wisconsin, and settled in Waukesha.

The couple were blessed with two beautiful daughters: Gail Lois in 1955 and Naomi Susan in 1963. While raising their daughters, Yoriko enjoyed working in various clerical roles starting as a Secretary at Waukesha Motor Works and later as a payroll clerk for Wisconsin Coach Lines. Shortly after Jennings’ sudden passing in 1981, Yoriko accepted a supervisory role at the Waukesha County Courthouse. She retired from the courthouse in 1996.

After retirement, Yoriko stayed extremely active in her spare time. She was an avid animal lover who cherished her many dogs over the years, especially her most recent Cocker Spaniel, Sasha. She even bred Cocker Spaniel dogs for a period of time! After Sasha’s passing, Yoriko enjoyed dog sitting to maintain her love of canine companionship. She was active in various square-dancing circles within Southeastern Wisconsin; Phoenix, Arizona; and Ocala, Florida. She found love again while dancing with Daniel Lamarsh. The two bonded over their love of dogs, dancing and gardening. They married on August 24th, 1996 in Waukesha, WI and were together until Daniel’s untimely passing in 2011 from pancreatic cancer.

Yoriko’s energy level was contagious – even into her nineties! She was a staple at YMCA’s Silver Sneakers chair yoga classes twice weekly. She was also an avid Sheepshead card player who enjoyed her circle of friends she met with every Monday at Waukesha’s Schuetze Center for games late into the night. Everyone who met Yoriko adored her cheery, upbeat disposition. She loved visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren – whether they visited her here in Wisconsin, or she vacationed in Florida or Utah to visit them.

Yoriko was preceded in death by Jennings Warner – husband, Daniel Lamarsh – husband, and Naomi Warner – daughter. She leaves behind the following survivors to cherish her memory: Tomoe Shiozawa – sister, Gail Warner – daughter; Grandchildren: Anastasia Albrecht, Andrew Albrecht, Nicole Albrecht, Mariko (Shawn) Hanegan, Lyle Smith; Great Grandchildren: Faustin Gallegos, Addison Hamilton, Axel Smith; Rudy Stemplinger – close friend. She will be missed by her Silver Sneakers yoga group, square-dancing friends and Sheepshead card circle.

In leu of any services being held presently, the Family would like to have a Celebration of Life ceremony in Spring of 2025. Additional information will be available closer to that timeframe.
