Richard Hampton Fisher II (79) of Frankfort, Kentucky passed away on December 05, 2024. He passed away at UK Hospital in Lexington after a brief illness with his wife and children by his side. Richard was born on November 13, 1945 in Harrodsburg, KY, the son of Richard H. Fisher and Eva Peavler Fisher.
Richard was a 1964 graduate of Henry Clay High School, Lexington. He earned his Bachelors degree from Morehead State University followed by his Masters degree from Eastern Kentucky University. Richard's college degrees were in Industrial Arts and Art.
Richard married Eileen Sumner Fisher in 1983 at First Christian Church (DOC) in Frankfort. They were married for over 41 years when he passed away. He was Dad to three beloved children and Pop to two cherished grandchildren. He was caregiver to many adopted and rescued animals who needed a forever home.
Richard taught Industrial Arts in Franklin County for 32 years - 5 years at Franklin County High School followed by 27 years at Elkhorn Middle School. He was touched by the many students he would see who told him how much they loved his woodshop class. Most still had their shop project made decades earlier.
Richard liked fishing, showing others how to use tools, and working on his van. He was fascinated by old trains and spent time learning about their history.
Richard is survived by his wife, Eileen Sumner Fisher; children Erin Fisher Kidder (Chris); Megan Fisher; Sean Fisher (Morgan); grandchildren Zoey Fisher and Arthur Kidder. He is also survived by two sisters, Robyn Fisher Bourgois (Louis) and Lisa Fisher as well as his brother, Randy Fisher (Janice). He had two nephews and two nieces in addition to several first cousins. Richard leaves behind a special lifelong friend, Larry Morris.
Per Richard's wishes, he was cremated and there will be no funeral. A celebration of Richard's life will be held at Clark Legacy Center, 3000 Versailles Road, Frankfort on Saturday, December 21 from 11 am to 2 pm. It will be an informal gathering where visitors can come and go at any time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to local LIFE House for Animals. LIFE House pre-addressed envelopes will be available.
