CMSGT Richard "Dick" A. Zenner
June 19th, 1928 - December 13th, 2024
Chief Master Sergeant Richard Albert Zenner passed away on December 13, 2024, just 12 days after Shirley, his wife of 75 years, passed away. A true testament of their love and commitment to each other!
Richard (Dick) was born June 19, 1928 and was raised in Buffalo New York, There he met Shirley, married June 25, 1949 and together had five children. As a military family, they traveled and lived throughout the U.S and internationally and made many, many friends along the way.
Dick began his military career in Cherry Point, N.C., serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951-1958. He left the Marines to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 until 1973, rising to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. During his service, he traveled the world and was in charge of jet engine conditioning. He was recognized for his outstanding commitment to pilot safety and high quality aircraft maintenance. His work played a significant role in the success of the Air Force mission in Southeast Asia.
Upon retirement from the service, he became a successful business owner using his mechanical skills to open and manage Zenner’s Automotive in Colorado Springs. Later in life he volunteered at the Air Force Academy hospital for several years.
He loved his trips to Cripple Creek, enjoyed eating a good meal, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to tell stories about his time in the service and his time with Shirley.
He will be greatly missed but will live in our hearts forever.
There will no services, but a celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date.
