Ronald James Marano
September 14th, 1946 - December 13th, 2024
“How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” AA Milne
Ronald James Marano, 78, of Turnersville, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 14, 1946, Ron was the son of the late Ernest and Grace (nee Black) Marano. He grew up as the cherished younger brother of the late Patricia Morgan, Judith (Larry) King, and Sandra Oncay. Patricia and Judith, only 11 months older than Ron, affectionately nicknamed the trio “The Italian Triplets.” The siblings shared a close bond throughout their childhood, with Patricia and Judith often being protective, if not bossy, of their younger brother.
Ron graduated from Deptford High School in 1965. His life changed for the better when he became the proud father of Lisa (Chet Peden) Marano. Ron relished family life, hosting backyard parties at the Madison Avenue home and enjoying time at the Jersey Shore. He was a devoted father, cheering Lisa on at her swim meets with his trademark call, “Go Lis!”
Ron’s greatest joy came from being a grandfather to Kyle Peden. He loved watching Kyle grow, hearing stories of his accomplishments and antics, and celebrating his achievements.
Professionally, Ron was a dedicated employee of Bottino’s ShopRite, where he worked at several locations, retiring from the Bridgeton store. He was well-known and appreciated by the community.
In his spare time, Ron pursued his passion for classic cars, particularly his 1955 Thunderbird, which he loved driving. He also enjoyed classic rock music, indulging his sweet tooth with cake, and supporting Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles. Ron was a season ticket holder at Veterans Stadium for many years and cherished witnessing the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII victory and the Phillies’ World Series wins.
Ron will be remembered for his strong voice, charismatic personality, and ability to find humor in daily life.
Ron is predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Grace Marano; his siblings, Patricia Morgan, Judith King, and Sandra Oncay. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Chet Peden) Marano; his grandson, Kyle Peden; his nephews, Michael and Mark Morgan; and his brother-in-law, Mike Morgan.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Camden County.
Services will be held privately.
