Yvonnie June Trogdon of Homedale passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, at 82. A lifetime Idahoan, she was born in Boise on June 17, 1942, as the sixth of seven children to the late Ivan Andrew and Marie Jolley Murphy. She spent her early school years in Cascade, which always held a special place in her heart. She cherished being born into one of Treasure Valley's largest extended families, the Murphys. However, for Yvonnie, family was never limited by blood. Her love knew no bounds, and she found her second family, the Pedersens, after becoming active in the Salvation Army Church and meeting her lifelong best friend, Karn Pedersen Howell. After her cousin set her up on a date with the late Arthur Trogdon in Huntington, Oregon, she knew instantly that he was "the one," and they were married in January 1960, growing the family with the addition of two children over the next few years. Their shared love for the Valley County outdoors led to a lifetime of camping where activities ranged from boating, fishing, and adventures of crashing motorcycles on old mountain logging trails. Her brother Ron never passed up the opportunity to cut in front of her at the mouth of a washout, so you can imagine the rest of that story. Even after Dad's passing, she continued to camp at the Arrowhead RV Camp with her son while glamping with her daughter in a condo in McCall. Yvonnie struggled to learn to read and write as a young girl, but her progress reports always indicated her cooperation and recognized several perfect attendance awards. She never let this learning disability hinder her independence; instead, she found work and hobbies that adapted well to her capabilities and leveraged her work ethic and reliability. She kept a cheat sheet in her checkbook to write checks independently and was impressively accurate in paying her bills and keeping her manual checkbook

register. She bowled on several leagues and traveled to tournaments with her "girls," JoAnn, Faye, and others. She especially liked the tournaments in Nevada, where she could combine her favorite activities - bowling and slot machines. You'll have to imagine her excitement when she went to a BSU bowl game in Las Vegas. We didn't tell her she could bet on the game, or she would have made bets for the BSU fans down at Fisher's in Homedale, where she commonly watched the games and drank a coke. Due to her work ethic, Yvonnie only had a few employers across her career in the cyclical industries. First, she worked at the Simplot Poultry farm outside Wilder, supporting Art in managing the farm until its closure. The farm was followed by two wood mills: Arvin's mill in Homedale and for nearly 30 years in Nampa, making doors at Meridian Wood and Woodgrain after they acquired Meridian Wood. Dialysis three times a week for the past decade may have reduced her longer travel adventures, but it didn't stop her from enjoying life to the fullest. In addition to spending countless hours dancing with and being "the toy" for her great-granddaughters, she loved serving area youth and veterans as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 32 for nearly 20 years. Until recently, you could count on seeing her at the Owyhee County Fair, selling concessions in the Auxiliary's booth to support high school incoming seniors attending Idaho Syringa Girls State. Additionally, she could be found on most days eating shrimp with the breakfast club at Nathan's Greenleaf Café and an early dinner at Mr. V's in Caldwell...but not if it was Tuesday. Tuesdays were reserved for the Taco Tuesday Club at the Hop Haus in Wilder. We all know Mom loved taking pictures of friends and family, and just as her fingertip found its way in front of the camera lens and onto the countless pictures taken, she has left an enduring imprint on us, and we will always treasure those memories with her.

She is survived by her son Don, who resides in Boise; daughter Kerrie and her husband Mike of Eagle; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Megan (husband Bob); and great-granddaughters Belle, Emma, and Allie; her brother Ron Murphy, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Arthur Trogdon, along with her step-son, Lawrence; her parents, Ivan Andrew and Marie Murphy; two brothers, Al Murphy and Tommy Murphy; as well as her sisters, Dorothy Howell, Phyllis Coombes, and baby Jeanette; and daughter-in-law, Linda. Join us in remembering Yvonnie by sharing your favorite stories and memories at a celebration of her life this Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell at 1:30 p.m. For family and friends wanting to see her one last time, a viewing is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. on the same day. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Legion Auxiliary.
