Peggy M. Moore of Lexington, KY passed away on Sunday December 8, 2024 at the age of 94 years. She was born in Knoxville, TN on November 3, 1930. She was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor G Moore, her son Taylor G Moore, III, her parents Kelly and Roberta Mixon, and her brother Hayward Mixon. Peggy graduated from the East Tennessee Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse. She was very proud to be a nurse and worked in patient care and then in later years taught a health careers course for high school students in the vocational school system in Wayne County (Monticello) KY. After retirement, Peggy and Taylor enjoyed many years of travel and warm winters in Florida.
Peggy leaves behind her daughter, Sharon Bertram and son-in-law Charles of Lexington, her son David Moore and daughter-in-law Kim of Georgetown, her grandson Michael Bertram and wife Lacee, great grandchildren, Millie, Laney, and Lucy Bertram of Columbus, Ohio. Survivors also include a dear sister-in-law Helen Scruggs of Knoxville, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Peggy and Taylor moved to Monticello, KY in 1964 and were active members of the First Baptist Church where they both taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. They owned and operated Kays’ Drug Store in Monticello and were involved in the community for many years. After moving to Nicholasville in 2007 they joined Anchor Baptist Church and enjoyed making new friends and being a part of that community. For the past 5 years, Peggy was a resident of The Willows at Fritz Farm, Lexington, KY where she received wonderful care and made many friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff for their loving and compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held at Clark Legacy, 601 E Brannon Rd Nicholasville, KY on January 3rd, 2025 from 2-4pm. Gathering will be from 2-3pm and celebration of life will start at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anchor Baptist Church, 3601 Winthrop Dr, Lexington, KY 40514 or Oneida Baptist Institute, 11 Mulberry St, Oneida, KY 40972.
