Marc Gabriel Kaplan, 76, of Tucson Arizona, passed away on December 14, 2024. Born on December 27, 1947 at Borinquen Field (later Ramey AFB), Puerto Rico to Elliot and Ina Kaplan. He was a devoted husband to Marty Kaplan and father to five children, thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Marc lived his life by example and embodied the spirit of service to others. He was always willing to help. He completed a Bachelors, Masters, and pursued a Doctorate of Science in Watershed Management with a Minor in Soils from the University of Arizona. He served in the Arizona Air National Guard for 6 years after graduation.
Marc started his professional career at the Soil Conservation Service in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Later he moved to the US Forest Service where he spent the rest of his career working first in the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest and subsequently in the Coronado National Forest. Over his 40+ years of service, he worked in the field as a soil scientist, a forest planner, and eventually a FOIA liaison.
Marc was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved most to serve as a nursery leader but also relished being a Family History Consultant.
