Jim was born on October 11, 1948, and peacefully passed away while spending time with several family members at his home in Puyallup, WA on December 11, 2024. Jim had 5 siblings, brothers Rick, Greg and Michael (who passed away in 2014) and sisters Mary and Cathy. As his father was an Air Force Colonel, the family moved many times in his early years. The Hulse family lived in Pennsylvania, Alabama, Louisiana, South Carolina, Alaska, Japan and California. After graduating from high school Jim attended Solano Junior College in Northern California where he excelled in computer coding. However, Jim chose a different career, opting instead to become a mechanic. Jim had a tremendous aptitude for diagnosing and repairing machinery and he derived a tremendous amount of satisfaction from his work with American Home Foods (AHF) in Vacaville, CA. Jim began his career with AHF in 1967 and unbelievably spent his entire working life with that one company. His mechanical ability was quickly recognized there, and he rapidly rose within their ranks, ultimately becoming the plant's Maintenance Supervisor in charge of maintaining and repairing their food processing equipment. AHF relocated Jim to their plant in Chillicothe, Missouri for a short time and finally to their operation in Lewisburg, PA in 2000. Jim bought a home in Lewisburg and lived there until retiring in 2009. Immediately upon his retirement Jim bought a home in Puyallup, WA to live near his daughters Stephanie and Twozdai. Stephanie and Twozdai are the daughters of Jim and his first wife, Penny Newey. Jim and Penny were married in 1969 and lived in Vacaville, CA until the time of their divorce in 1979. Jim was remarried to Charlie Jarvis in 1981. They also had two children, Rachal and Ryan, who are currently living in northern California. Jim and Charlie divorced in 1986. Jim did not marry again after that. Jim was an active outdoorsman. Most of his family referred to him as Uncle Fish and that was a moniker he certainly earned. No one enjoyed fishing more than Jim. No one had more fishing gear.. Perhaps the only thing he loved more than the sport of fishing was simply sharing time with close friends and family members on his boat while fishing on one of his favorite lakes. Those who were lucky enough to spend time with him in those settings were always rewarded with a great day of friendship and created priceless lasting memories together. To a person they would tell you that Jim loved sharing his vast knowledge of the sport with anyone who wanted to learn. In addition to fishing, Jim was an accomplished archer who competed in local and national archery contests, often placing near the top of the leaderboard in those events. He was also a crack shot and an avid hunter. Jim is survived by his four children, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He helped many members of his family with home improvement projects and these activities gave him great pleasure. He found joy in helping others and selflessly shared his time and

knowledge with anyone who asked for his help. Funeral arrangements have yet to be made.
