Jessie “JD” Delane Davis, age 86 of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 19, 2024.  JD was born on November 7, 1938, in Rogersville, TN to George and Ruth Davis.  On June 17, 1958, JD married the love of his life, Leta Ketron, and after 66 years of a beautiful marriage and raising a family, she survives.

JD loved life and he was the family jokester and prankster.  His family was his passion, and he loved every moment that he got to spend with them.  JD was a TN Vols and Atlanta Braves fan, and just like every TN Vols fan, he considered himself their number one fan.  It didn’t matter what JD was going through in his life, he always focused on the positive. JD’s love for his family continues within their hearts; even death cannot break the love he has for his family. 

JD was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lynn Davis, and Gary Davis; and one sister, Evelyn Dean.  Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Leta Davis; sons, Ricky Davis, and Jay Davis (Angie); daughters, Cindy Hicks, and Delana Brickey (Kevin); grandchildren, Ashley Bates (Robert), Heather Pippin (Charlie), Freddie Hicks Jr, Robbie Hicks, Lily Davis, Avery Krutak (Caleb), Matthew Brickey (Katie), Andrea Brickey (Colby), and JD Brickey (Jamie); great-grandchildren, Gabe, Luke, Josh, Zach, Emma, Jude, Wynnie, Andrew, and Samuel; one brother, Donnie Davis (Katie); one sister, Kathy Crawley; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Salem Methodist Church.  During the visitation, special music will be provided by Matthew Brickey.  A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm with Pastors Ray Amos and Brad Brown officiating.  Special music will be provided by JD Brickey.  A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.    Freddie Hicks, Robbie Hicks, Gabe Hicks, Matthew Brickey, JD Brickey, and Colby Gardner will be serving as pallbearers.  Johnny Barnes, Caleb Barnes, Joe Shelton II, Joe Shelton III, Charlie Pippin, Robert Bates, Dustin Dean, David Dean, Ethan Dean, Scott Davis, Matt Arvidson, David Lay, Caleb Krutak, Mark Davis and Michael Davis will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
