John Francis Plourde, Sr.
June 24th, 1935 - December 17th, 2024
John Francis Plourde Sr. (1935-2024) John Francis Plourde Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and pillar of the community, passed away on December 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Remarkably, he continued working up until just two months prior to his passing.
Born on June 24, 1935, in New Haven, CT, John moved to Miami, FL, as a child. He later relocated to Belleview, FL, in the early 1980s. John attended the University of Florida, where he developed a lifelong passion for the Florida Gators. He was also an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins.
John was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Norma Plourde; son, John Francis Plourde Jr.; grandson, Kris Allen Benoit; brothers, Alfred and Edward Plourde.
He is survived by his daughters: Tammy Lynn Coy and Janet Lynn D'Aiuto; grandchildren: Mark Benoit, Sabrina Sisto, Lauren Plourde Preston, Zachary Keeney, Kaitlin Keeney and John Ross Plourde; great-grandchildren: Kristian Ford, Gracelynn Sisto, Mckynlee Jo Preston, and Zara Keeney; sister-in-law: Darlene Shipman (like a daughter to him); brothers: Arthur Plourde (91) and Harold Plourde (95); long-time girlfriend: Glenda Thompson; daughter-in-law: Sandy Jo Plourde; sons-in-law: Robert Coy and Bill D’Aiuto; and nephews and nieces who he cherished.
John was a skilled carpenter and entrepreneur, owning and operating A&J Commercial Seating for 58 years. His business provided interior fixtures for restaurants and hotels nationwide, notably IHOP locations across the country. If you've ever sat in a comfortable booth in Florida, chances are it was an A&J booth – John produced the best. His dedication and passion earned him a reputation for excellence.
John embodied positivity, kindness and generosity. He was renowned for his bright smile, love of dance and contagious enthusiasm. Every morning, as soon as his feet hit the ground, he would burst into song, filling the air with joy and energy. His family cherished his warmth and guidance.
To say that John will be missed is a grave understatement. His passing leaves an unfillable void in the lives of his loved ones, friends and community. His legacy, however, will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew him.
