Leigh Ann Johnson
May 18th, 1973 - December 14th, 2024
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we share the passing of Leigh Ann Johnson on December 14, 2024. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, and treasured friend, Leigh Ann’s life was a testament to kindness, brilliance, and love.
Born on May 18, 1973, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Leigh Ann grew up in Ooltewah, TN, where her exceptional talents and warm spirit were evident from an early age. A proud graduate of Chattanooga Central High School’s Class of 1991, Leigh Ann pursued her passion for excellence, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
As a Certified Public Accountant, she was known for her professionalism, integrity, and sharp intellect. She held esteemed positions throughout her career, including Audit Manager with Carolinas Healthcare System and leadership roles at Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, Ison & Decosimo, and Blevins, Matheney & Stees. Her professional accomplishments were matched only by the grace, humor, and warmth she brought to everything she accomplished.
Leigh Ann’s heart shone brightest in the love she gave to her family. She was the beloved wife of James Johnson, her soulmate and the love of her life. Together, they built a beautiful life in Charlotte, NC, filled with laughter, shared dreams, and unwavering devotion. Leigh Ann’s greatest joy was their daughter, Elise, who was her heart and soul, the light of her life.
Leigh Ann was a woman of extraordinary gifts, musically talented in playing the organ and clarinet, and was an exceptional cook who loved creating meals that brought her family together. She was a world traveler with an insatiable curiosity for new experiences, yet her deepest joy was found in giving to others. Her generosity, compassion, and philanthropic spirit touched countless lives, reflecting her belief in lifting others and spreading love wherever she went.
Her sharp wit, brilliant mind, and encouraging nature will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her. Leigh Ann had a way of making everyone feel special, and her presence was a blessing to her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Nancy Harden, and her half-sister, Sue Holder. She leaves behind her devoted husband, James, and her cherished daughter, Elise. She is also survived by her brothers, Joshua Harden (children Jessica and Brennan) and Benjamin Harden (children Drew, Ethan, and Jackson); her half-brother, Thurman Harden (spouse Elaine, child Lucas); her half-sister, Diane Hall (children Lisa Everett and Amanda Webb); the children of her late half-sister, Andy, Randy, and Daniel Holder; and many loving relatives and dear friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Leigh Ann’s remarkable life will be held on Saturday, January 18, at 2:00 pm at Tribute & Tallent Funerals & Cremations, 1937 N. Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC 28205. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Arthritis Foundation in her memory, reflecting her giving spirit and passion for helping others.
