A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Cheryl Shank Zwierko passed away in Melbourne on Thursday, December 11, 2024, surrounded by family.
Born in Van Wert, Ohio on April 27, 1946, to John and Marguerite Shank, she was the second oldest of three sisters. After graduating from Shelby High School in 1964, Cheryl went on to study Speech and Hearing – Deaf Education at Kent State University, graduating in 1968. She met her husband, Richard, at the age of 23 while working as a Special Educator in Northern Virginia and they eventually shared three children and ten grandchildren during their 54 plus years of marriage. In addition to her faith in God, her family was the most important part of her life.
Cheryl believed her family was her greatest gift. Despite having a widely varied professional career, her most significant accomplishments included successfully raising her three sons and being intimately involved in the lives of her many grandchildren. Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness and generosity.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marguerite Shank.
