Matthew Joseph Lawley

Matthew Joseph Lawley, 37, passed away on December 12, 2024, in Roseville, California. 

Matthew was born on April 16, 1987, in Grass Valley, California, to Jeff Lawley, Sr., and Rena Ratzlaff. He spent his early years in Vallejo, South Lake Tahoe, and Elk Grove, California, and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 2005. 

After high school, Matthew joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. He worked on Patriot Missile Systems for over three years and was deployed to the Middle East. Following his military service, he worked for many years as a Field Service Engineer, servicing critical medical equipment at hospitals throughout Northern California. 

Matthew was a proud father to his daughter, Madison. He cherished spending time with her and going on adventures together. A huge Disney fan, he loved taking Madison to Disneyland. He also enjoyed hiking, spending time outdoors with his dogs, cooking, trying new dishes, video games, sports, and traveling. 

Matthew is survived by his daughter, Madison Lawley; his parents, Jeff Lawley Sr. and Rena Lawley; and his brothers, Jim Tennis, Josh Jamison, Jeffrey Lawley Jr., and Andrew Lawley. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, at 11:00 AM at Old St. Mary's Chapel, 5251 Front St., Rocklin, CA 95677. As a great animal lover, especially his dogs, the family suggests memorial donations to the Placer County SPCA (www.placerspca.org/support/donate) in lieu of flowers.
