Mary Kathryn Johnson passed peacefully at her residence at Cascades of Tucson December 10th. Mary K. was born Richmond VA and moved to Tucson in 1963 with her husband and children. She made her home in Tucson for 61 years and loved the mountains. Mary K. touched many lives in various ways in her life as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, co-worker and several other roles. She worked at the U of A for 23 years, volunteered at Saint Vincent De Paul for 20 years and attended Saint Francis De Sales church for many years. She had a passion for cooking, animals and anything where she was doing for others. She will be remembered for that passion, her warm smile and her soothing voice with a Virginia accent. She is proceeded in death by her husband Garland Johnson, her daughter Betty Wittenberg and her brother Eugene Martin. She is survived by 2 daughters, 1 son, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Although we mourn her passing and will miss her, we will celebrate the profound and positive way in which she affected and touched our lives. The family will honor the life of Mary K. privately without a public service at this time. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Saint Vincent De Paul or Saint Lukes's home.
