Georgia Pauline Stallard
January 5th, 1932 - December 25th, 2024
“Teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching kids what counts is best.” — Bob Talbert
Georgia Pauline Stallard, 92 of Kingsport (formerly of Rye Cove, VA) went to be with the Lord on December 25, 2024 at Asbury Steadman Hill Assisted Living following a brief illness.
Pauline graduated from Rye Cove Memorial High School at age 16, obtained an Associate of Arts degree from Campbellsville College, Kentucky, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Radford College. She had a special fondness for her two years at Campbellsville.
Pauline taught elementary school for 38 years in the Scott County, Virginia schools. She began her teaching career at Stanleytown Elementary but spent the majority of those years at Rye Cove Elementary and served briefly as librarian at Duffield Elementary. Pauline loved teaching first grade, and her students affectionately called her Miss Pauline. For over 50 years, she played the piano at Stanleytown Community Church. Pauline was dedicated to her public school teaching and to her teaching at the church and serving as Treasurer for many years. Pauline loved music; she and her late sister Vonda Stallard Davis and cousin Mozella Hackler Carter sang gospel songs on a weekly radio program while at Campbellsville. Pauline had a deep faith and had a significant, positive influence on those with whom she came in contact—family, friends, students, and colleagues.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents John A. and Bessie Carter Stallard; brothers, Jim Stallard and Leonard Stallard; sisters, Vonda Dorton Davis, June Stallard Starnes, Verna Stallard Dorton, Lois Stallard Carter, Nelle Stallard and Christine Stallard Leonard; infant sisters, Agnes and Virginia Stallard.
Survivors include brothers, John (Jack) Stallard, Larry Stallard and wife Jan, Darrell Stallard and wife Ginger; sister, Patsy Stallard Nunley; several special nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm to 1:30 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Carter-Trent Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City. A Celebration of Life service will follow with the Reverend Pat Davis, Jr. officiating. Music will be provided by Pat Davis, Jr. and Jack Stallard. Following the service, committal will be at Holston View Cemetery with family and dear friends serving as pallbearers.
The family would like to express special thanks for their compassionate and loving care to the professional staff at Asbury Steadman Hill Assisted living and to the Gentiva Hospice Nurses and staff.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Stanleytown Community Church, care of Regina Starnes, 5445 Clinch River Hwy, Gate City, VA 24251 or to Samaritan’s Purse, Boone, NC
