Raymond Winford "Crook" Reed
August 11th, 1927 - December 25th, 2024

Raymond Winford “Crook” Reed 97, of Gate City went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. He was born in Kingsport to the late Carson and Mollie Reed and spent most of his life in Gate City. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Raymond was known for his building skills and worked as the Building Trades Instructor at Scott County Vocational School. He was a founding member of the Scott County Park where he played every Saturday. Raymond was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Gladys Reed; son, Tony Reed; three sisters; two brothers.
Survivors include his son, Tim Reed and wife Penny; grandsons, Jason Reed and wife Joey, Jonathan Reed and wife Amanda; granddaughter, Keeley Schults and husband Steven; seven great-grandchildren, Hailey Reed, Rylan Reed, Colt Reed, Austen Schults, Scarlett Reed, Marley Schults, and Levi Reed; great-great granddaughter, Lainey Rusek; brothers, Ralph, Billy, Carl, and Larry Reed; special caretaker, Debbie Frazier along with a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Rick Begley officiating.
A military graveside service will be conducted at 1pm On Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at East Lawn Memorial Park with honors conducted by the American legion Hammond Post #3/265. Pallbearers will be Kendall Cleek, Jason Reed, Jonathan Reed, Rick Begley, Steve France, and Rylan Reed. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50pm.
