John Everett Bassham, a cherished husband, devoted father, and loyal friend, passed away on December 28, 2024, in Macon, Georgia. Born on January 22, 1964, in Charleston, South Carolina, his journey through life was one marked by dedication, kindness, and integrity.
To celebrate John's life, a funeral service will be Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 12:00 PM, at the Church in the Orchard, 881 Taylors Mill Rd, Fort Valley, GA 31030. John will be laid to rest Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM with military honors at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA, a tribute befitting a man who lived with such honor and dignity. In lieu of flowers, expressions of condolences can be forwarded to the Church in the Orchard. John's legacy is one of laughter, loyalty, and love, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
John's life was firmly rooted in service, both to his country and his community. As an active civil servant at the Robins Air Force Base, he served diligently in his role as an aircraft supervisor. His work, characterized by meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to excellence, garnered the respect and admiration of his colleagues. In his personal life, John’s loyalty and honesty were legendary, fundamental to the relationships he built with family and friends.
He shared 30 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Windy Bassham, who alongside him created a loving home in Byron. He was a proud father to his son, Sean Bassham of Illinois and daughter, Salina Bassham of Byron, who inherited his warmth and humor. John's life was imbued with a strong sense of community, deeply reflected in his involvement with the Church in the Orchard. His presence was a constant source of support and good cheer, spreading laughter wherever he went with his notable sense of humor.
Along with his wife and children he is survived by his sisters, Debbie Anderson of Warner Robins and Michelle Hetager (Kurt) of Savannah. John was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Bassham and Patsy Alexander Bassham.
