Evelyn Lewis Garner

Evelyn Lewis Garner, 86, of Greensboro, died peacefully on December 28, 2024.

Born on August 2, 1938, in Elkin, NC, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Joyce Lewis. Evelyn was the second-oldest of nine children. In September of 1953, she married Raymond Carl Garner, who preceded her in death. Together, they shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories.

A devout Christian, Evelyn loved the Lord with all her heart and was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. Her unwavering faith was an inspiration to all who knew her, and she found great joy in her church community.

Evelyn was also a lover of nature, with a particular fondness for plants and flowers. She had a green thumb and could make anything bloom. Her home was always filled with vibrant plants, reflecting her nurturing spirit.

Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her caring nature, warm heart, and kindness touched the lives of all who crossed her path.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Sullivan, Randy Garner, and Michael Garner (Dawn), as well as four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her deeply. Evelyn was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, James Sullivan, and six of her siblings.

A service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be held on January 2, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Bethel Baptist Church, 2230 Lees Chapel Rd, with the burial to follow at Lakeview Memorial Park at 1:00 PM.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 1st at Pierce-Jefferson Lambeth Chapel Funeral Home in Greensboro.
