"A father's love is eternal, and though he is no longer with us, his guidance and care continue to light our way."
Jesus A. Mendoza, known affectionately as "Chuy" to his loved ones, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, at the age of 86 in the comfort of his home in Tucson, Arizona. He was born in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, and raised in Tecate, Mexico, where he completed his education and military service.
Jesus was a devoted family man, having been married to his loving wife, Magdalena Mendoza, since 1963. Together, they raised five children in San Diego, CA and Lewisville, TX before moving and retiring in Tucson, AZ. His family meant everything to him, and he was known for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was always surrounded by family and friends and especially loved his family vacations to San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico.
Throughout his life, Jesus was a dedicated and hardworking individual, known for his expertise as a certified brake mechanic with Firestone. He took pride in his craftsmanship and had a knack for fixing anything that came his way. His skills extended beyond his professional life, as he also enjoyed working with his hands on various projects, including framing, electrical work, plumbing. There wasn’t much he wouldn’t try to do himself. Jesus also had a green thumb and found solace in tending to his garden and caring for his beloved fruit trees.
He is survived by his wife Magdalena, his daughters Maggie Bogert and Maritza Mendoza, his son Manuel Mendoza, his son-in-law Will Bogert, his beloved grandchildren including Samantha Bogert, Anthony Mendoza and his wife Julie, Rachel Mendoza, Christopher Bogert and his partner, Meghan, who are the proud parents of his beloved great-granddaughter, Ivory, and step-great-granddaughter, Leilani. Jesus was preceded in death by his sons Jesus M. Mendoza and Miguel Mendoza.
Jesus A. Mendoza touched the lives of many with his kind and caring nature and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, compassion, and unwavering love for his family. May his memory be a blessing to all who carry his spirit in their hearts.
A memorial service in honor of Jesus and both his sons, Jesus M. and Miguel, will be held at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church at 1800 S Kolb Rd, Tucson, Arizona at 11:00 am on Friday, February 7, 2025. In loving memory of Jesus A. Mendoza, we kindly request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in his honor.
