Family and friends are mourning the passing of Eleno Mones, on December 23, 2024, in Ione, California. He was born on May 12, 1948, in Phoenix, Arizona to Eleno and Modesta (Tomines) Mones.
Eleno was a long-time Bay Area resident and was very proud of his decades-long career as a Chemist at the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. He balanced work with many days spent on various golf courses, competing in occasional tournaments.
Upon his retirement, Eleno fulfilled his wife’s wish of buying a horse ranch, which took them to Camanche Village in Ione. It is here where Eleno and Mary enjoyed the remainder of their lives with their horses and dogs.
Eleno is survived by his niece, Liza Javier; sons, Doug (Peggy) Mehlhaff and Eric Mehlhaff; daughter, Debbie (Sam) Arledge; grandchildren; Lyndsey, Ally, Sam, Austin, Morgan, Logan, Kyndle, Christian; great grandchildren, Lilly, Raylan, Sammie, Jase, Gianna, Kaylee, McKinley, Mateo, Charlie, and Avery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Katherine Mones.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, January 17, 2025, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson. Interment will be at Sunset View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
