George A. Palilonis, 98 of West Deptford, NJ passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024.

 

Legacy

George served his country during World War II and was a proud United States Army veteran. He became a part of the VFW in Gibbstown to continue his support of other veterans of foreign wars. George continued his support in the community by becoming a founding father of the Racoon Creek Boat Club in Bridgeport, NJ established in 1950. George started working as a real estate agent for Kingsway realty where he met his wife Elizabeth “Betty”/Nana. Later, he received an opportunity to work for the federal government as an appraiser for FHA and HUD. He worked many years before retiring and enjoying his life. George, also known as Pop-Pop to his family by marriage, traveled the country with his wife and was an avid hunter who spent time hunting deer and fishing with his grandson, John. The casinos, specifically Harrah’s in Chester, the Showboat and Caeser's were his favorite haunts, where he enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and most importantly, those he enjoyed being with, family. George would eat dinner with family after a day at the casinos, at the boat club, the VFW or at his favorite restaurant ‘ Mandarin Court’ where he would be surrounded by laughs, stories and family. George is survived by his stepdaughters Nancy Gray (John), Judy Redrow-Blymer, Pat Ballistreri (Jack); his step grandson John Zorn (Robin), step granddaughters Debbie Apessos and Jennifer Telaar. George is also survived by his multiple grandkids; Billy (Gina), Bobby, Larry (Michelle) and Mike Redrow, as well as, Nancy Ballistreri, Randi Turco (Tom), Andy Ballistereri, and an abundance of other grandkids and great grand kids. George is predeceased by his wife, parents and siblings. Services for George will be held at McGuinness Funeral Home at 34 Hunter St. Woodbury NJ. 

 

Farewell Tribute

The funeral visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5th, 2025 from 12 noon to 2 pm in the McGuinness Funeral Home-(Woodbury Location) 34 Hunter St. Woodbury NJ 08096.   Words of Remembrance will begin at 2:00PM. Interment will take place privately. 

To help keep George’s good deeds moving forward, his family asks that contributions be made to the Veterans of of Foreign Wars vfwnj.org or to the help those with spinal musculature atrophy to have a chance at a better life smafoundation.org.
