David Britt Erickson passed away peacefully under hospice care at home in Rockvale, Colorado on December 18, 2024 at the age of 57. David was born on February 16, 1967 to Retha Darlene Erickson and Jeryl Britt Erickson in Denver, Colorado. David grew up in Golden, Colorado and attended school in Pleasant View and in Golden.

David was a drywaller by trade for 35 years contributing his talents to many Denver area projects including the Jefferson County Jail in Golden and Concourse E at Stapleton International Airport in Aurora. He also loved playing the guitar and singing. From his early teens he would perform at small local venues and private parties and even joined a couple of local bands during the 1980’s and 90’s. He also made a studio CD recording of the song “Angel Eyes” in the 1990’s when laser recording technology was still in its early stages. David also had a talent for comedy and was the life of every party. He loved to do impersonations of famous people. His favorites were Bill Murry, Ozzy Osborne, and Jimmy Carter and with his natural talent he brought all of these people and many of his own characters to life in a vibrant and very entertaining way. He truly enjoyed making people laugh.

David married his first wife, Melinda (Mindy) Sue Erickson, in 1991. Together they had a daughter, Lacey Darcine Erickson, who was born on September 4, 1993. Mindy passed away on December 25, 2000. Her loss was deeply felt by family members on both sides. David met his second wife, Cheryl Lee Ottinger, 14 years later and they were married in Salida, Colorado on May 18, 2018. David and Cheryl lived in Buena Vista, Colorado until 2021 when they bought a house in Rockvale just outside of Florence, Colorado.

David was a very loving person who was always ready jump in and lend a hand to anyone who was in need. He took great pride in his home and enjoyed doing projects around the house and in the yard. He was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos who enjoyed every win, especially if other family members were rooting for the opposing team. His smile and enthusiasm for life will be greatly missed by all.

David was preceded in death by his first wife, Mindy Erickson, his parents, Darlene (Dar) and Britt Erickson, brothers David, Randy, and Rick Dobyns, and sisters Bambi Oblander and DeeAnn Luther.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Erickson, his daughter Lacey, aka Jordan, Erickson and her wife Ashley, and two grandsons, Anthony and Brayden. He is also survived by brothers Scott Dobyns and Tim Erickson, sisters Debbie Koch and her husband Loren, Ruth Lindblad and her husband Roger, Linda Lucero and her husband Del, Holly Barnet and her husband Dave, Robin Young, and Tammy Davies and her husband Harold Erickson along with
