Barry French
July 8th, 1945 - December 13th, 2024
Barry Edward French 79 of Ladson SC.
Barry E French Entered into eternal rest on Friday December 13, 2024. He was born in Crown Point NY on July 8,1945 to the late Helen Reed and Royal French. He was the 8th of 16 children.
After graduating high school he joined the Navy and served 4 years as an Electrician on a few ships. While on the USS Independence he was Stationed in Charleston where he finished out his time. He received the national defense service medal and was a Vietnam Vet. After being Honorably Discharged he went into the Naval Reserve in Bainbridge Maryland.
He moved to Charleston in 1966 and began his family. He has had several jobs since the Military which include Buck Lumber and Pest Control for years. He then went in to Maintenance supervisor at the Renaissance on the Charleston Harbor for 15 Years. and finally finished his career working for Fred Anderson Toyota as the Customer service shuttle driver. Barry was a very active man who loved all sports and even coached his daughters Softball team in his younger days. Barry was an active Golfer and enjoyed playing every weekend for the last 30 plus years. He also loved to play pool, and was a avid Bowler for 40 years. He was a member of the Charleston Elks Lodge # 242, where he was a active member for 29 Years. He served as a Trustee for 5 years and on many committees through is years, Including starting a Pool League and working with the Veterans Committee, and Calling Bingo. He was also a Lifetime member of the VFW.
He left behind his Loving and devoted Wife Dottie French of 24 years, His Children Darryl French (Sharon), Dwayne French, Rebecca (Mark) Albers, Allison French, Stepchildren Deborah (Scott) Baldwin, Christine De Borba, and had 10 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grand Children. He was Proceeded in Death by his Stepson Sal Musso.
The Family will hold a Memorial January 18th @ 6pm at Charleston Elks Lodge 1113 Sam Rittenberg Blvd Charleston SC 20406 . In Lieu of Flowers, Please Make Donations to Elk's Lodge #242 National foundation. 1113 Sam Rittenberg Rd Charleston SC 29406 Attention Michael Stevens
