It is with great sorrow that Lorraine Percarpio of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the age of 85.

Lorraine was born on November 17, 1939, in Oxford, New Jersey, to Charles Joseph McGuire and Mary Elizabeth Sillett. A proud graduate of Washington High School, she built a life marked by boundless love for her family, a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and a deep commitment to her faith.

Lorraine’s life forever changed when she met her beloved husband, William Percarpio. Their love story began with a whirlwind romance that grew into a 64-year marriage filled with unconditional love, shared laughter, and enduring affection. Together, they raised four children: Alice, Thomas, Edward “Teddy,” and Patricia. While Lorraine’s life was deepened by the presence of her children, it was also marked by heartbreaking loss. She was preceded in death by two of her children, Alice and Teddy, whose absence she felt deeply.

Early in her marriage, Lorraine demonstrated the same determination and drive that would come to define her. After beginning her career as a phone operator, she made a bold shift to the business world, cementing her legacy as a successful custom curtains and draping designer. Lorraine worked tirelessly while skillfully balancing the demands of work with the needs of her family, whom she always prioritized above all else.

Family was the very heart of Lorraine’s world, and it was through her devotion to them that she found her deepest fulfillment. Her children, grandchildren, and extended family were always her greatest pride. As a mother, she poured her love, wisdom, and unwavering support into her children, guiding them through the ups and downs of life. In her later years, her love expanded to her grandchildren, Shayne Murray, Carrington and Will Percarpio, with whom she shared countless moments of joy and affection. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and compassion, where her family knew they were always loved and cherished.

Lorraine’s legacy is not only in the memories she leaves behind, but also in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, generosity, and grace. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life, and her steadfast belief in the power of family, love, and community will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Lorraine is survived by her two remaining children, Thomas Percarpio of Warwick, New York and Patricia Murray of Beaufort, South Carolina, as well as her beloved daughter-in-law, Kendra Percarpio of Warwick, New York. Her grandchildren, Carrington and Will Percarpio, were the light of her life in her later years. She is also survived by her sibling Charles McGuire.

She was predeceased by her husband, William Percarpio, and two of her children, Alice and Edward "Teddy" Percarpio, her grandson, Shayne Murray, and her siblings, Mary Ellen Gramberg, Patrick McGuire, and Gerald McGuire. Though their absence left a hole in her heart, Lorraine’s memory lives on through the love and devotion of the family she left behind.
