Raymond C. Shaw, Jr. of Washington Township, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, on January 2, 2025.

Legacy

Ray was born on April 13, 1947, in Philadelphia to Raymond C. Shaw Sr. and Gertrude Shaw. During his childhood, his family moved to Washington Township, where he graduated as a member of the first graduating class of Washington Township High School.  After high school, Ray served in the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant in the Air Police Traffic Accident Investigation Unit. Most of his service was spent in Germany, where he grew to love the culture and made lifelong friends. Following his Air Force career, Ray went into business with his brother, specializing in the historic restoration of brick and stone buildings—a craft they learned from their father. Their craftsmanship can still be admired in many historic Philadelphia areas.

Ray was married to the love of his life, Debbie Shaw, who was also a graduate of Washington Township High School. Together, they built their forever home on the lake where they both grew up.

Ray enjoyed boating and fishing, especially with his best friend Larry, as well as beach days and sunsets at Cape May Point Beach. He loved to BBQ, a good bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, and eating crabs and a BBQ cheeseburger with his good friends Lynn, Larry, Ronnie, and Barb. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whenever possible.

Family

Ray is survived by his wife of 36 years, Debbie Shaw (née Koepfer), and his stepsons, Brett Biebel (Theresa) and Dale Biebel (Sarah). He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren: Samantha, Conner, Penny, and Reese.  He is predeceased by his parents, Raymond C. Shaw Sr. and Gertrude Shaw, and his brother, Curtis Shaw.
