Miner, Robert (Bob) Edward, Jr. Bob passed peacefully on Christmas 2024. Bob was born in Binghamton, NY December 3, 1934, and recently celebrated his 90th birthday with family. He is predeceased by father Robert Miner, Sr., step-mother Jennie, brother Philip, wife Shirley and grandson Tanner. He is survived by sons Paul (Kathie) and Thomas, granddaughter Megan Miner Larsen, great-grandchildren Ryleigh, Arick, Brighten and Cadence Larsen. He is also survived by brothers John (Holly) Miner, David (Sharron) Miner and sisters Sally (Gus) Aragon and Susan Filip, along with many nephews and nieces.

Bob had an extraordinary life. Moving to Tucson in 1947, Bob graduated from Tucson High School (’52) where he excelled as a musician in the THS Swing Band. His love of music continued to his death. He played tenor and alto saxophone with many local swing bands. Soon after high school, he enlisted in the Navy, and became a submarine sonar specialist (1954-1958). While stationed in San Diego he met the love of his life, Shirley Bamford. They were married Oct. 1958 until her death in May 2015. After the death of his father in 1965, Bob took the reins of Miner’s Auto Supply, and ran the business until its sale and his retirement in 1994. In addition to being a local businessman and musician, he was a private pilot and he loved cars, especially Mustangs and vintage autos. He and Shirley once had a beautiful cabin near Hawley Lake in the White Mtns, which provided the backdrop for his love of fishing and hunting with his boys. He was also an avid horseman, a farrier, team roper and occassionally participated in pistol shooting competitions while on horseback.

Bob will be greatly missed. A service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, January 11th at Noon at Pantano Christian Church, 1755 S. Houghton Road. In lieu of flowers, donations made in his memory can be made to the Humane Society of So. AZ or the charity of your choice.
