It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Betsy" Mullis, who departed this world on January 5, 2025, at the age of 80 in Warner Robins, Georgia. Her friends and family are invited to honor her life and legacy during the visitation on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 1 PM to 2 PM, at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. A private burial will take place immediately after the service. The Rev. Jackie Thomas will officiate.
Betsy was born on December 8, 1944, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, and was a beloved daughter of Lucian and Bessie Lou Berryhill. A dedicated and loyal worker, Betsy retired from Robins Air Force Base where she contributed significantly to the F-15 mission. Passionate about both her personal and professional life, Betsy exemplified the traits of kindness and loyalty, which she graciously extended to all who knew her.
In her years beyond work, Betsy shared many unforgettable journeys across the country in a 5th wheel, accompanied by her husband and dear friends. She was an avid volunteer at the Museum of Aviation, where she poured her enthusiasm for aviation and community service. Betsy's love for horses was boundless, raising and showing quarter horses, an endeavor through which she developed many lifelong friendships. Her cooking was divine the family looked forward to meals at her home. She was the family historian and knew all of the stories.
Betsy was preceded in death by her cherished husband, John Mullis, her devoted parents, Lucian and Bessie Lou Berryhill, and her beloved brother, David Berryhill. She leaves behind a legacy of love and enduring relationships through her surviving family: her brother, Gary Berryhill and his wife Kathy, her sister Sue O'Rear and her husband Steve, along with her nephews Jason Hammock and his wife Melissa, and Clay Berryhill (Chelsea Goff). Her nieces, Nikki Jernigan and her husband Doug, and Chelcey Remstad and her husband Ryan, also cherish her memory. Betsy was a proud great-aunt to Cameron Jernigan, Patterson Jernigan, and Harper Remstad. Her extended family and a host of friends will remember her with fondness and gratitude.
Memories of Betsy will persist as a guiding light for those she leaves behind—a testament to a life well-lived and well-loved.
