Arvin Blakeney, a beloved father and incredibly proud grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at the age of 89.  He was born and raised in Ogallala, NE.  Later, Arvin attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE.  He then joined the Navy, where he experienced one of the greatest highlights of his life, flying jet aircrafts.  He flew jet aircrafts on and off of a Naval Aircraft Carrier and acquired hundreds of hours of flight time, which formed his incredible love for airplanes that would stay with him, throughout his entire lifetime.

During the 1960's, Arvin settled down in Colorado where he fulfilled a career in the insurance industry.  In 1991, he moved to Shawano, WI, and later onto Freeport, IL, where he spent several years mentoring young men, as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America.  This is when he got to experience his unsurpassed admiration of the wilderness, hiking, biking, camping, backpacking and canoeing.  He loved those times so much and had extremely fond memories of those outings.  He also led a successful bible study group, at his house, studying and sharing the Word of God with many people from his community and church.

Arvin moved back to Colorado in 2009, when he became heavily involved in St. Andrews United Methodist Church, serving everywhere he could.  He spent numerous hours serving as a Stephen Ministery Leader, volunteering his time, visiting and praying with people in need, and thoroughly enjoyed singing in the choir.

Arvin was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Margaret Blakeney. He is survived by his brother, Loren Blakeney; his son, S. Brian Blakeney (Danielle); his daughters, Paula Neil (Eric) and Cheryl Stack (Jay); his grandsons, Jonathan Stack (Jackie), Austin Stack (Corrie), Mason Neil (Vicky), and Jake Graham; his granddaughters, Kayla Neil and Gracie Lou Blakeney; and his great-grandsons, Landon J. Stack and Theodore M. Stack.

Arvin will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of all of those that he prayed for, and that he was so very proud of.

A celebration of his life will be held at St Andrews United Methodist Church, 9203 S University Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126, on January 18, 2025, at 10:00am.
