Coy Jerome Pate, Sr.

Mr. Coy Jerome Pate, Sr. age 77, a resident of Polk City, Florida passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Lakeland surrounded by family. Mr. Pate was born February 1, 1947, in Dundee, Florida to Coy Pate and Bernice Bonnie (Weeks) Pate. He was a lifetime Polk County resident and a retired Truck Driver in the Citrus Industry. Coy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Polk City and 35 years with AA. He enjoyed going to church, camping and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister – Sharon Pate Gillingham. Coy is survived by his loving family, 2 sons – Coy Jerome (Evonne) Pate, Jr. of Mayodan, North Carolina & James Michael (Sabrina) Pate of Polk City, Florida; 2 daughters – Vanessa Lynn (Brent) Roberts of Mount Juliet, Tennessee & Darlene Ann Lane of Walnut Cove, North Carolina; 3 grandsons – C.J. (Amber) Pate, III of Mayodan, North Carolina, Jaron Pate of Austin, Texas & Carson Roberts of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; 5 granddaughters – Teresa Ann (Brandon) Priddy of Minot, North Dakota, Addison Roberts of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, Emma Roberts of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, Gracie Lynn Pate of Polk City, Florida & Heidi Lane of Walnut Cove, North Carolina; 2 great grandchildren – Grant & Penelope. A visitation will be held Monday, January 13th from 6-8pm at Kersey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday, January 14th at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mount Enon Cemetery in Plant City.
