Jorge Luis Garay Herrans

Mr. Jorge Luis Garay Herrans, age 72, a resident of Auburndale, Florida passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Jorge was born June 28, 1952, in Vueltas, Cuba to Bernardo and Ofelia (Herrans) Garay. He’s been a Florida resident since 1980 coming from Cuba, where he graduated from the University of Havana and worked as a Chemist for a Petroleum Company. He retired after 10 years of service as a Driver for Aramark Uniform Company.  He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winter Haven. Jorge was a member of the Teamsters Union and earned a Black Belt in Karate. He enjoyed watching older Kun Fu movies, art culture, creative art maker of many things and loved to spend time with his family. He was preceded death by his parents and sister. Jorge is survived by his loving & devoted family, wife of 44 years, Isabel Garay of Auburndale, Florida; daughter – Isabel Garay-Mesa and husband Eduardo of Auburndale, Florida; 2 brothers – Jose Garay Herrans of Miami, Florida & Juan Carlos Garay Herrans of Cuba; half brother – Burri Garay of Canada; many nieces, nephews & cousins. A celebration of Jorge’s life will be held 4:00pm Thursday, January 9th at Kersey Funeral Home.
