Calvin H Buikema

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved father, Cal Buikema, who passed away unexpectedly on January 1st, 2025 at the age of 79. 

He was a man of few words but unwavering love for his family and those close to him. He is survived by his three children Todd, Heidi and Kristen as well as his three sisters, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dad also leaves behind his cherished cat he affectionately referred to as "Cappy" and his "buddy" who provided much comfort and companionship. 

He was fascinated by the Civil War and with collecting shipwreck memorabilia. Both hobbies were evident when you visited his home. Cal earned his master's degree in Psychology from Central Michigan University in 1969 and worked as a school psychologist in the Dade County school system before transitioning into real estate and for the last 30 years as a property manager for several prominent companies in the Tampa Bay area. For the last 16 years, until his retirement in 2022, he was the senior property manager at 100 North Tampa where he played an integral role in numerous achievements including the impressive 5,000 square foot Amenities and Conference Center and most recently a multi-million dollar Lobby renovation project. 

Dad was a mentor to many and held in high regard. While we grieve his loss we find comfort knowing he did not suffer and is now with his Heavenly Father. 

At his request, no funeral services are scheduled and a private burial planned.
