Julia Cordilia Fullerton
October 21st, 1931 - December 29th, 2024
Julia Cordilia Fullerton, 93, transitioned to Heaven on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at her home surrounded by family in Land O’ Lakes, Florida. She was born in São Paulo, Brazil on October 21, 1931, the daughter of the late Clyde L. Cooper and Pauline Sudduth Cooper. Julia grew up in Brazil and moved to the United States when she was 17 years old.
She spent most of her life in the Washington, DC area before retiring to Morrisville, North Carolina, then down to Crystal River, Florida, and finally settled in Land O’ Lakes, FL for 20 years. Julia is survived by 4 children: Catherine Ann Fullerton (Tampa, FL), Scott Owen Fullerton (Mary Ann) (Land O’ Lakes, FL), James Anthony Fullerton (Apex, NC) and Dirk Steele Fullerton (Stela) (Seminole, FL); 6 grandchildren: Owen Fullerton (Kim) (Tampa, FL), Anthony Fullerton (Caroline) (Murrells Inlet, SC), Alexandra Fullerton (Cary, NC), Ella Fullerton (Fuquay Varina, NC), Jaime Fullerton (Rougemont, NC), and Mikaela Fullerton (Apex, NC); 1 great grandchild: Lucas Fullerton, a sister-in-law Julie Fullerton (Spencerport, NY) and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly. Preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 51 years William (“Bill”) D. Fullerton; 3 sisters: Clydine Cooper, Bonnie Sutton (Arthur) (Westminster, MD), and Peggy Leasure (Albert) (Arlington, TX).
She took secretarial courses and eventually worked in the House of Representatives office of New York Congressman Hamilton Fish in Washington, DC. After marrying Bill, she spent most of her time raising their children and supporting Bill’s many projects. Julia was a Christian and a phenomenal mother - there was nothing she couldn’t learn to do; she hosted dinner parties for many of Bill’s colleagues and was always an impeccable hostess for all gatherings of family and friends.
Julia loved Jesus, laughing, spending time with her family and friends, learning, gardening, boating, traveling, watching movies and soccer, playing games, and shopping. She was the true definition of a ‘Lady’ throughout the decades. She was warm and cordial to all who met her, and we know the angels celebrated her arrival.
A Celebration of Julia’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 2:30-4:30pm at Land O’ Lakes Methodist Church, 6209 Land O’ Lakes Blvd, Land O’ Lakes, FL 34638. A Committal Service will be held in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers or planting trees, the family kindly requests donations to your local Hospice or Charity of Choice.
