Celeste Mae McGowan Robinson

Celeste Robinson, Loveland, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025 at the age of 92. 

Celeste McGowan Robinson was born in Ames, Iowa on April 11, 1932, and graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis. At the age of 21, she moved to California where she met and married Albert Robinson, a gifted machinist. Together they raised four sons. Over the years, they introduced their family to ranching, raising cattle and 4H. They moved to Iowa where Celeste worked for Hach Chemical. When Hach moved some of their operation to Loveland, Celeste coordinated the relocation of more than one hundred families from Iowa to Loveland. She retired from Hach in 1999. For many years, Celeste was an active member of St John’s Catholic Church in Loveland.

With her infectious enthusiasm and adventurous spirit, Celeste was a gifted artist, seamstress, and cook. She was a quilter, including those made for her grandchildren, and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles (and the occasional glass of wine.). With a keen eye for numbers, Celeste closely tracked family finances and enjoyed card games that challenged her keen mathematical mind, especially cribbage and bridge. The occasional trips to a casino led her to a Black Jack table, and typically she went home with more money than she brought. And at the pool table, her skills astonished many of her male competitors, much to her delight. Celeste’s compassionate spirit, good humor, and sharp wit delighted all who knew her.

Celeste is survived by devoted sons Jeffrey (Toni), Mark (Ann), Todd, and Kirk (Angie), half- brother Patrick Callahan (Mike), ten grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Albert, mother Mildred Callahan, father James McGowan, sister Eilene Stevens, daughter-in-law Valerie Robinson and granddaughter Jessica Robinson.

Visitation will be held on January 16, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 at David Viegut Funeral Home, 1616 N Lincoln, Loveland. Interment the next day will be private.
