Brendan J. Mullarkey
June 14th, 1937 - January 6th, 2025
Brendan Mullarkey passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025. He was born in Manhattan, NY on June 14, 1937 to Patrick and Mary Mullarkey. He spent his early years in Shanballymore, Dunmore, Ireland, unable to return home from a visit due to the outbreak of WWII, but was able to make it back at age 9. He married Mary Lynch on July 10, 1965. They moved to Garnerville, NY where they raised their 4 boys. Brendan was a police officer for the NYPD from 1959 to 1980. In 1971 he was shot in the line of duty and was awarded the Combat Cross. Upon retiring, he worked another 20 years for Weil, Gotschal & Manges. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, working on major home improvement projects, and making sure the birds on his property always had seed to eat. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary, his sons Michael and his wife Orietta, Dennis and his wife Pritebelle, Patrick, and Gregory and his wife Myra, as well as his sister Mary and grandchildren Corinne, Mason, Tommy, Brendan, and Marianna. Family will receive friends on Thursday January 9th from 4-8 pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 11 am at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
