Arrolyn Joyce Miller

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Arrolyn J. Miller on December 30, 2024, in Olympia, Washington at the age of 90. Her departure was very sudden following a brief illness.

Born on November 2, 1934, in Machias, Maine, Arrolyn was the daughter of Norma M. Hampton and John P. Farris. She was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Eva and Maurice Reynolds in Lubec, Maine.

Arrolyn’s life was defined by her passion for education and creativity. A graduate of the University of Maine, her love for teaching left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students. Later in life she embraced her artistic side through a ceramics business in Lubec, Maine – a pursuit that she truly enjoyed. In 2014, Arrolyn moved to Washington State, but carried with her the love for Maine’s rugged beauty and memories of her close friends and family.

Arrolyn found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved to cook and experiment with recipes, she enjoyed gardening, music, painting and loved to go on camping trips, embarking on adventures near and far.

She was predeceased in death by her devoted husband of 62 years, Robert B. Miller with whom she travelled the world as a military spouse. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Julie Lord; son Todd Miller; grandchildren Morgan Lord, Marissa Lord, Chase Lord and Grace Boudreau; great grandchildren Aubrei Laurendeau, Adelynn Lord, Gabe Guzman, AJ Guzman and Carter Boudreau; half-sisters Theresa Max and Nadine Walker; as well as several cousins and extended family.

Arrolyn will be laid to rest in Lubec, Maine – a place that held special meaning throughout her life. Her quick wit, dry sense of humor, and zest for life will forever be treasured by those who knew her. May her memory serve as a source of comfort and inspiration to those who loved her deeply.
