Barbara J Hill

Barbara Joan Hill, 94, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, in Seminole, Florida. Born on December 14, 1930, in Paterson, New Jersey, Barbara lived a remarkable life filled with love, dedication, and generosity.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin James Hill; her sister, Mary-Ann Mutter; and her granddaughter, Valerie Hill. She is survived by her three children: Linda Testa of Seminole, Florida; Edwin Hill (Susan) of Mansfield, New Jersey; and David Hill of Seminole, Florida. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Renée Hicks (David) of New Port Richey, Florida; Michael Carre' of Davenport, Florida; and Patrick, Thomas, Joseph, and Steven Hill of Mansfield, New Jersey. Barbara was blessed with four great-grandchildren: Courtney and Brendan Grada, Michael Carre', and Jace Decker.

Raised in Prospect Park, New Jersey, Barbara met her future husband through her dear friend Betty Poss (Beiter) during high school. She pursued an education in textiles and worked at her parents’ textile company in Paterson before taking over the business alongside Edwin. Around that time in life, she also worked at the American Bible Society in Wayne, where she formed a lifelong friendship with Donna Thomsen. She and Edwin settled on Hillside Dr. in North Haledon, where they happily raised their three children.

In 1982, Barbara and Edwin relocated to Madeira Beach, Florida. She worked, and retired, from Franklin Templeton Investments in St. Petersburg but remained active by volunteering with the Salvation Army and Madeira Beach City Hall. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. Barbara enjoyed golfing, reading, and cheering on the Bucs until her vision began to decline. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and adored by every member of her family.

Barbara’s warmth and selfless heart touched everyone who knew her. Her family and friends will deeply miss her kind spirit and loving presence. May her memory bring comfort to all who loved her
