Aleksandra K. (Koziarz) Forkey, 93, a longtime resident of South Hadley, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, in Crestview, Florida.  Born on July 27, 1931, in Poczajow, Poland to Franciszek and Irena (Bondar) Koziarz.  She grew up in Krzemieniec.  When Russia invaded Poland in WW II, the family was sent to work camps in Siberia.   Later they traveled as refugees to England, moved to Canada and settled in the United States. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Crestview, Florida.  She was a hairdresser at Modern Beauty Shop in Chicopee until she retired early to become a caregiver to her mother. She was loving and caring to her entire family and a wonderful friend.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Forkey; her parents, Franciszek and Irena; her sisters, Wanda Dziadek and her husband Janek, and Christine Kunkle and her husband Kenneth; brothers in law, Richard Forkey and his wife Shelby and Raymond Forkey and his wife Helene; and her niece, Patricia Stenson.

 

She is survived by her sister, Helen (Koziarz) Fontaine and her husband Dennis of Crestview, Florida; sister-in-law, Nancy Dewitte and husband Charles; numerous nieces and nephews including Tiffany, Bernie, Eddie, Diana, Debbie, Cynthia, Joseph, AnnMarie, Steven, Christopher, Lynelle, Michael, Janet, and Matthew; along with several great nieces and nephews and extended family.

 

Visitation will be January 11, 2025, from 9-10 am at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at St Theresa of Lisieux Church at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.

 

The family would like to thank Safe and Secure and Vitas Healthcare for their care and support during this difficult time.
